Great all-around weekend for the JBP crew, putting up a 6-2 record. Could have been even better if not for USC head coach Tim Floyd going Bob Knight late Sunday, losing his mind after Daniel Hackett was called for charging with the Trojans (+7) trailing ASU by seven late in the game.
Floyd turned into a rabid dog after the call, virtually foaming at the mouth as he ran onto the court, where he bumped an official before being hit with two technicals and getting ejected. Then to top it off, Floyd called upon President Obama to address an issue that, considering the global financial meltdown and two wars oversees, is no doubt a paramount concern for many.
"We have no freedom of speech as coaches," said Floyd, referring to an NCAA rule which forbids coaches from publicly criticizing officials. "Maybe [President] Obama will change that rule."
Yes, Tim, hopefully he'll get right on that.
Davis Love III, who once compared getting heckled at the Eccenture Match Play to the war on terror, was reportedly appalled by Floyd's comments.
JBP to date: 47-28 (62.7 percent)
Today's play: UConn -3.5 vs. Pitt.
Pitt plays solid D and beats up most teams on the interior. They won't be able to do that with the ever-emerging Haseem Thabeet manning the middle for the Huskies. UConn is the better team and they are playing at home.

ReplyDeleteI'm kind of liking the UCONN Money Line
ReplyDeleteDo you have a MLB system?
MQ
Q, rarely get involved in MLBs. I do, however, love short road favorites. You figure those teams would be eight to 10-point favorites against the same team at home.
