Disappointing loss last night. Knew pretty early on we probably had the wrong side, as Pitt's combo of DeJuan Blair and Sam Young were pretty dominant. Having said that, JBP contacted a number of Pac-10 officials after the game, and, to a man, they were offended by the way it was called. Each possession, it seemed, was called differently. One time down, they would allow contact. They next, they wouldn't. Again, it probably didn't impact the outcome, but as a fan it was frustrating to watch.
JBP to date: 47-29 (61.8 percent)
Today's plays: BYU -6.5 vs. New Mexico; Michigan St. +2.5 @ Purdue; Suns -7.5 vs. Clippers
BYU is on a bit of roll after hitting a rough patch in mid January. Not only do the Cougars enjoy one of the best home-court advantages in the country, but they have also won four in a row by an average of nearly 24 points a game. JBP likes bet on UNM at home but against them when they take to the road.
Michigan St., while way overrated nationally in our opinion, is the class of the Big Ten, where they have won all of their road games this season. Robbie Hummell is back in the lineup for Purdue, which desperately missed him. Hummell, however, is clearly still feeling the affects of a fractured back; he looked awful Saturday against Iowa.
No way the crew was looking to play the Suns a week ago. But in a hunch, we like Phoenix to show some renewed energy after Terry Porter was fired Monday and replaced by a favorite of the players, Allen Gentry.
