Profits, profits, profits!

Ever since the Playhouse Crew declared a mulligan a couple weeks ago, we are a very respectable 10-7-1 ATS, including a nice day yesterday, when we went 3-1. The only loss came when Jekyl and Hyde Miami had to make a series of improbable plays in the waning moments against Wake just to win by one. While entertaining, the U never came close to covering the 6.5 number.

All in all, there is a new vibe in the building, making it more fun and rewarding to come to work each morning. And with basketball season coming -- easily The Playhouse's most profitable time of year -- we expect the good times to continue to roll.

Super Play

Big divisional game today in Philly, pitting the Eagles against the Giants. Neither team is playing particularly well, something that usually makes us sit on the sidelines. There is, however, a pretty strong trend here that is hard to ignore: The Eagles are 8-3 ATS in their last 11 at home and 11-2 ATS after playing a division game, as they did last week against the Redskins. Look for Donovan McNabb to take advantage of a beat up Giants secondary. Eagles + 1.5

Other picks

Broncos +4
Bears -12.5

Game we wouldn't watch if it was in our backyard

Lions vs. Rams. Watching it would be bad enough. Betting on it, now that's something different altogether. May Tiger Woods have mercy on the soul who gets to a window, "Yeah, gimme the Lions laying the points."

Worst people of the week

Any Packer fan who participated in the mock funeral for Brett Favre. If Favre playing for the Vikings has significantly altered your life, then you need serious help, someone with whom a large dose of perspective might go a long way.

Also, don't let the facts get in the way of a good time, by the way. The Packers essentially cut ties with him, people, not the other way around. The organization wanted to go with Aaron Rodgers, which is fine. But Favre still wanted play, which is also fine. As unlikable as he can be, the collective hubris of the Packers and their fans is stunning. You can't break up with someone and then presume to tell them who they can and cannot date. The Playhouse hopes the Vikings win big.

  1. Berger-
great job on the recent turnaround! im glad you saw the value on the ducks @ autzen last week, great pick! I believe i have the lock of the year with houston -1.5 this week @ tulsa. Look for another 500 yards passing from Keenum en route to a two score(min) beating of tulsa. also like OU -4.5 @ nebraska, USC giving 10 to your scum devils, and the ducks to continue to cover against Stanford. good luck, Brian in Bridgetown
