Either the three people who log on The Playhouse all lost their Internet connections this week or you guys only like to send along your comments after we lose, because there is no fan mail to speak of today. Shame on you.
The crew followed up Saturday's 3-1 performance with a very solid 2-1 showing on Sunday. It all added up to our best weekend yet. But as we noted last week, the first, say, 17-20 plays of the season were basically a mulligan (Listen, does Peyton Manning ever take the field without without warming up, without going through the route tree with his receivers and making all the throws? Negative. Then why would The Playhouse? We were merely making all our throws, if you will. Looking at it any other way is just being silly, really).
Super Play of the Day
Based on our numbers, if Kansas St and Colorado played a week ago, the oddmakers may have shaded CU a tad, making them a slight road favorite. But with K-State coming off a 62-14 beat down of Texas A&M, there has a been a slide toward the Wildcats, with most books in town installing Bill Snyder and Co. as a four point favorite. It's a ridiculous overreaction. We tend to believe the Wildcats more closely resemble the team that only two weeks ago got drilled in giving up 66 to Texas Tech. Or even the one who earlier this year lost to Louisiana-Lafayette.
Yes, 62-14 is hard to overlook, but that one got away from the Aggies fast. They committed five turnovers, each of which led directly to points, and, quite frankly, had given up by halftime, when they trailed, 38-0. The Buffs, for their part, have played decent football since Dan Hawkins made a quarterback change, replacing his son, Cody, with Tyler Hanson. Since the move CU was competitive with Texas on the road and beat previously undefeated and nationally ranked Kansas. Colorado 4.5.

Most absurd thing of the week
The Enrico Palazzo impression offered by Major League Baseball umpires. Literally, it's been embarrassing. Reached earlier in the week, a spokesman for the SEC told The Playhouse, "We're appalled that there have been so many bad calls. It's a shame the outcome of these games have been affected by the inability of these men to do their jobs."
