The Crew came up short Sunday, losing on the Super Play with the Ravens, who embarrassed themselves in front of America by losing at home to the Charlie Batch-led Steelers as a 7.5 favorite. Once it became clear the Ravens would not cover, out of spite we began rooting for a Pittsburgh outright victory. As an organization that has placed so many bad wagers over the years, it's become a remarkably familiar in-game transition for us. Our record dropped to 17-9-2 for the year -- which is still about ten games better than we thought it would be at this point in the year.

We have no coherent thoughts today, so here's some loosely connected ramblings before we get to the Super Play of the Day...

The Heisman Trophy is a bull shit award, allegedly given to college football's best player. We are on record as digging Johnny Football's game, and on top of it he seems like a really solid dude. But does anyone really think he's a better player than South Carolina's Jadeveon Clowney. There are 32 NFL GMs who don't...

Manny Pacquiao did his best Glass Joe impression last night, stumbling into a devastating overhand right from Juan Manuel Marquez at the end of the sixth round. The two have fought four times, with Marquez arguably winning three of them. Still, the two appear destined for a fifth fight. Great...

NFL players need to stop dying...

On a related front -- and at the risk of broaching a sensitive topic -- drinking and driving is already illegal, so, gun enthusiasts, those oh-so-clever tweets this morning about outlawing cars are as ridiculous as they were predictable. And, no, that doesn't mean as latte-swilling, Seattle-based pagans that we want to outlaw guns; it just means we'd prefer less people would die as a result of them...

We love Pat Forde, but that dude needs to stop tweeting about swimming. There's a reason no one cares about it, save once every four years...

Courtesy of covers.com, Falcons head coach Mike Smith is 32-16 ATS as a favorite. Atlanta is -3 today at Carolina...

The Diamondbacks have won more recently than the Arizona Cardinals, and considering the Cardinals' remaining schedule and shoddy QB play, we have installed the D'backs as a -150 to win again before they do...

The Ravens have won 15 straight coming off a loss, according to RJ Bell of pregame.com. Baltimore is a two-point dog today at Washington.

Also from Bell: Mike Shanahan is 4-21 ATS is his last 25 home games...
