Price too high for Kolb

If you believe the media -- and you shouldn't -- the Eagles are trying to fleece the Cardinals in a deal for quarteback Kevin Kolb. The proposed deal, depending on who you want to believe, would involve Arizona sending corner Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and a first or second round draft pick to Philly for Kolb.

That seems to be a fairly high price to pay for an unproven commodity who would also need to be signed to a long-term deal. A cheaper option, both financially and personnel wise, might be Denver quarterback Kyle Orton, who is rumored to be on the block.

Orton has played in this league and has experienced relative success in two different offensive systems with Chicago and Denver. Kolb, on the other hand, has significantly smaller sample size, playing four games under Andy Reid, who once made A.J. Feeley look like Joe Montana for half a season. Feeley later signed a lucrative deal with the Dolphins, only to flameout in spectacular fashion.

Considering the Cardinals troubles at quarterback last season, Kolb, almost certainly, would be an upgrade. For that price, however, it's not worth the gamble.
