Championship Saturday

The Crew had another disappointing Sunday, going 1-2 and once again whiffing on The Super Play of the Day. Losing money because of Rex Grossman always feels good. Otherwise, the play on Philadelphia was ridiculous. We must have been on blotter acid.

Couple thoughts before Super Play of Day...

We had a take on some of the coaching moves being made in the Pac-12, and they seem to be quite a bit different than most. History backs us up. If you missed it, you can read it here...

Speaking of coaching searches, Houston's Kevin Sumlin seems to be at the top of everyone's wish list, and The Crew isn't sure why. Yes, the Cougars are 11-0 going into today's Conference USA title game and have a legit shot to play in a BCS bowl. No one, however, wanted Sumlin last year, when Houston was 5-7 playing without Case Keenum, who tore his ACL in the second game of the year. With Keenum back this year, he's suddenly a great coach?...

The Crew doesn't get the national upheaval a potential rematch between LSU and Alabama seems to have sparked. It has many ESPN talking heads preening for the camera, questioning the validity of the BCS, and, of course, demanding some sort of playoff.

Listen, we would love a playoff, which, if it were to happened, could become the biggest sporting event in the country. This year, however, doesn't further the argument that we need one. On the contrary, if anything, it bolsters the BCS, which aims only to matchup the two best teams. And to us, at least, there's extraordinarly little doubt that LSU and Alabama are the two best teams...

After UCLA covered last night, double-digit under dogs are now 16-7-2 against the spread in conference title games. Southern Miss and Georgia are both catching double digits today. The Crew doesn't recommend a play, but it certainly gives you something to think about...

Super Play of Day

Michigan St, which already beat Wisconsin this year, is still angry because of last season, when the Badgers played in the Rose Bowl despite losing to the Spartans head to head and finishing with the same conference record. Way too many points here. Michigan St +9.5
