Sept 1, 2012

Merry f-ing Christmas, everyone.

The Crew got off to a bit of a slow start, losing both our plays last night and currently Navy +15 doesn't look too awesome, but after nearly nine months without football who really cares. A couple thoughts before getting to the Super Play of the Day.

Mark May and Lou Holtz have pictures of ESPN management doing blow with coeds, because nothing else can explain their continued employment...

The Playhouse was big on Wolfpack quarterback Mike Glennon coming into the season, and while he has considerable physical skills, he made some terrible decisions last night under pressure. We are having some early second thoughts about the over play we made on NC State...

The season is only two days old, but Tennessee is easily the best team we have seen thus far. The interior of the offensive line might be a question mark, but otherwise, the defense was fast and opportunistic, and quarterback Tyler Bray (27-41 for 332 yards and two TDs) has some nice weapons to work with on the outside in JC transfer Cordarelle Patterson and Justin Hunter, who combined for 15 catches and 166 yards...

One area of concern for the Vols, however, is head coach Derek Dooley, who looked like a total rube last night in orange pants and some sort of white blouse. Nick Saban never takes the field looking like a clown, and Dooley shouldn't either. Be a professional...

The bloom is off the rose for Boise State. The Broncos have intramural talent at the skilled positions. They are  37 games over .500 ATS since 1998, but we'll be looking to fade them the rest of this season...

Speaking of intramural talent, Michigan State might want to find a quarterback. Andrew Maxwell, who has been tapped to replace Kirk Cousins, wasn't exactly Joe Montana last night. Hell, he wasn't exactly Kevin Kolb, which is too bad because running back Le'Veon Bell (44 carries for 210 yards and two touchdowns) and the Spartan defense (38 rushing yards allowed) are for real...

The CBS' decision to use David Feherty on its college football coverage is unfortunate...

Oklahoma St is a 62-point favorite today vs. Savannah St. Via RJ Bell of pregame.com, it's the largest spread in history, besting Hawaii, which was -60 against Northern Colorado in 2007...

This has nothing to do with football or gambling, but it's awesome...

Super Play of the Year

Toledo +10. Arizona shouldn't be favored by double digits against anyone.

Other plays

Iowa St +1.5
Ohio +6.5
