The office is dealing with its first bit of adversity in quite awhile, losing three out of our last four. Villanova played zero defense last night and still hasn't put a man on West Virginia's D'Sean Butler, who scorched the Wildcats for 42 points. It wasn't that West Virginia was making shots; it was how open those looks were. Today were ready to get back on the winning side.
JBP to date: 41-26 (61.2 percent)
Today's plays: Arizona +5 vs. UCLA; Creighton -3 @ So. Illinois;
Memphis -12.5 @ So. Miss; Santa Clara - 12 @ Loyola-Marymount
Arizona, winners of six in a row, getting this many points seems generous. Yes, this has been a lopsided series for nearly four years, but Arizona does have some nice home wins this season (Kansas, Washington), while the Bruins have struggled against better competition away from Pauley Pavilion, losing to Washington, Michigan and ASU.
Creighton has picked up the pace in the Missouri Valley, winning five in a row to get within two games of conference leader No. Iowa. Normally stout So. Illinois is trudging through a down year, three games under .500. The Playhouse crew loves this game.
Memphis has won 51 games in a row in Conference USA play, and it seems, whether on the road or at home, they can name the score. The Tigers are 12-4 ATS in their last 16 as double-digit favorite.
Though Loyola-Marymount picked up its first win of the conference season Thursday against USD (Nice work, Ryan Rose), the Lions are still really bad. This number might be a little short.
