APRIL 8, 2009

The Playhouse is more than a little disappointed that our most recent success has been on the backs of the UConn women. Whatever, we'll take it, and it seemed to give us a little momentum, as we had a nice Final Four (mens, ha!) and decent start to MLB season, which couldn't get here fast enough, by the way.

Tonight's play is a lock: Tampa @ Boston (under 8.5). Scott Kazmir and Jon Lester are two of the best lefties in baseball. Lester is 27-8 in his career, which is the highest winning percentage to start a career for any pitcher since 1900. Kazmir battled some injuries last season but still finished up with a 3.49 era. The cold weather in Boston should help keep this total low, too. ... The Playhouse also like the Phillies (-115). Statistically, teams, even bad ones, don't get swept at home. It's hard to fathom the Braves sweeping the world champs.
