One in a row

Sunday's 1-1 record makes us practically on fire after a 1-7 start (That we needed late two-point conversion by Green Bay to secure that win is immaterial). Here's to continuing the "streak" Thursday night:

Georgia Tech +5
  • This line appears to be a overreaction to Miami's nationally televised win over Florida St., because the Yellow Jackets are clearly the better team. They beat the Hurricanes 41-23 last season, rushing for 472 yards and carrying a 31-point lead into the fourth quarter. Of course, there is the revenge factor to think about. But as we saw in the Boise St-Oregon match up a few weeks ago, too much can be made of that. Most of the raw numbers favor Tech, too. Over the last three years, Miami is 5-11 ATS against the ACC and 5-10 ATS as a favorite. Also consider: The last five times the Canes have been favored in the 3.5 - 10 point range, they have not covered once. Miami may win, but take the points.
