Playhouse Super Play of the Day

Jesus, (pun intended) since when does beating Hawaii mean you are a national championship contender? Notre Dame's last quality win came September 9, 2006, when they defeated no. 19 Penn St in South Bend. That hasn't stopped their throng of insufferable fans and media backers from morphing them into the second coming of USC, all due to their win over Hawaii in the Hawaii Bowl last season.

That the Warriors were a .500 team in the WAC doesn't seem to matter. It's done little to temper the giddiness of those waiting to elevate Notre Dame into the ranks of the nation's elite, such as former coach and current ESPN "analyst" Lou Holtz, who has the Irish playing in the BCS National Championship Game. That's beyond laughable.

Yes, Notre Dame has almost everyone back. But, are those not the same guys who lost to Syracuse at home last season? And the same ones who needed a bad call to avoid OT with San Diego State?

All you need to know is this: The Irish have played 16 bowl teams in the regular season over the past two years. They are 2-14 in those games, with both of the wins coming by less the 14 points.

Nevada is a bowl team, and their quarterback Colin Kaepernick might be the most dangerous player on the field tomorrow. It's a pretty easy pick: Nevada +14.5.

Other picks

Oklahoma -22
Cent. Michigan +13.5
