Championship Sunday

Anytime someone tells you they are giving out free money, it's time to stop taking that person seriously, because in gambling there is no such thing. That said, Colorado screwed The Crew yesterday, winning 64-63 as two-point favorite. Still, we'd make the same bet tomorrow if given the chance. Again, just because you lose a bet doesn't mean that it was a poor decision. It was a bad beat, plain and simple. It nonetheless dropped our record to 3-3 for the year.

A couple thoughts/stats before The Super Play of the Day...

In journalism, it's one thing to miss on a minor detail, one that can easily be retracted or corrected in later editions, such as a middle initial or someone's age. It's quite another to report erroneously that someone has died. CBS, just before 6 pm PST last night, reported via Twitter that Joe Paterno had passed away. As it turns out, he died shortly after 6 am this morning. You can't miss dead, you have to be sure. CBS now has a credibility gap and will not be taken serious when it comes to breaking news. In other words, they are now in the same boat with ESPN...

Speaking of ESPN, Adam Schefter is reporting that the Cardinals have 'interest' in Peyton Manning should he be released by the Colts. As native Arizonans, The Crew would like nothing more that to see Manning end up in Phoenix, instantly making  the Cardinals Super Bowl contenders. The report, however, is bullshit and so indicative of how ESPN operates.

Just like every straight male in the world would be 'interested' in hooking up with Jessica Alba, we're sure nearly every NFL team, save maybe four, would have 'interest' in Manning, who before he missed last season was widely considered to be the best QB in football. It still means nothing, failing to offer any keen insight into the thinking of the Cardinals or, for that matter, Manning. It's basically just throwing some shit on the wall to see if it sticks...

Super Play of the Day

New England is perhaps the most overrated, overvalued NFL team of all time. The Patriots have not beat a team with a winning record all season. Not one. The Ravens, on the other hand, are 7-0. To quote an old friend, 'we don't want the points, we don't need the points, but we will take the points.' Baltimore +7, but look for them to win outright

other plays

49ers -2
