Across the Pond - Formula 1
The Bahrain Grand Prix is on tap for this weekend, and just like every other freaking year, terrorist threats and security concerns are serving to overshadow the actual race. Remember, in 2011 the race was cancelled at the last minute after Bahrain's ruling party, one of the most autocratic regimes in the world, crushed a pro-Democracy uprising, killing 35. Maybe next year Eccelstone should just add Juarez to the circuit.
That said, nothing, not even a nation on the brink of civil war can deter Formula 1. Barring a last-minute scare, the grand prix will go on this weekend -- and if it is anything like Shanghai last week, we are in for a treat. While longtime Agent Q observers mostly likely expect me to take a run at Fernando Alonso and Team Ferrari, that's not going to happen. Sebastian Vettel you assume? A nice safe bet from the best driver on the planet? Nope. Something smells rotten with Team Red Bull, and I just do think there's much valeu with Vettel. After closely examining the race last week, and at length staring at dude’s pedigree, we are going on a limb, albeit a small one, and taking last week’s second place finisher, and everyone’s favorite Fin: Kimi Räikkönen at 7/2. Bet it!!
(editorial note: we didn't follow any of that - the drivers and the race could be completely made up for all we know)
