November 14, 2010

About the only good thing that happened yesterday was the University of Arizona going down in flames to USC in Tucson. It marked the second consecutive week that the Wildcats have been pushed around in the trenches. Those Rose Bowl plans of a month ago now seem ludicrous (They were then, by the way). Good luck in two weeks, Tucson. Next up, Oregon in Eugene.

A couple hours north in Tempe things are worse. Although the Sun Devils have been a cash machine this year, going 7-1 ATS according to The Playhouse's unofficial numbers, there have been far too few wins and far  too many near misses to justify Dennis Erickson's return to the sideline next season. A budget crunch in the state of Arizona, however, will probably dictate otherwise. Erickson, unfortunately for ASU fans, will probably be back.

SUPER PLAY OF THE DAY

The Browns, who are coming off wins versus New Orleans and New England, are the vogue pick this week. We at The Playhouse, however, are going against the grain in this one. The Saints and Patriots don't have the same kind of personnel up front as the Jets. Look for Peyton Hillis, therefore, to be neutralized, which means Colt McCoy is going to have to make more plays. We don't think he can do it. Jets -3.

OTHER PLAYS

Arizona -4
Kansas City -1
