Great Saturday for The Crew, which posted their second 3-0 record of the young season. That's the good news. The bad news, of course, is that those two days accounted for six of our 11 wins for the year. We're still over .500, but the boys in the office know they have to be more consistent.

Couple thoughts from yesterday...

LSU is the best team in the country, meaning we look more foolish every week for calling them overrated in the pre-season. To beat three ranked teams away from home, and to do so decisively, has been very impressive...

Congrats to the Arizona defense, which really dug in last night, holding Oregon running back LaMichael James to 288 yards rushing. The Wildcats have now lost eight straight games to FBS teams and have given up more than 500 yards total offense three weeks in a row.

South Carolina is as talented as anyone in the country, including LSU, with one notable exception: quarterback. Stephen Garcia, who has been playing for the Gamecocks since Clinton was president, threw four more picks yesterday against Vandy, with each one seemingly more ill-advised that the other. It's hard to believe as well as Steve Spurrier has recruited there recently that he can't find someone more serviceable.

Super Play of the Day

Baltimore was in a classic let-down scenario last week, when they played lightly regarded Tennessee on the road a week after hammering division rival Pittsburgh at home. Today, they'll rebound in St. Louis against the injury-riddled Rams, whose receivers could catch an STD in dorm room.
