The Crew wakes up each and every Saturday morning thankful that, number one, another football weekend is upon us and, number two, amazed that Desmond Howard continues to hold down a job. We've always been high on Corso, Fowler and Herbstreit, and putting Howard with them is like Stryper playing with Hendrix. This, of course, is the network that continues to employ Lou Holtz, so we shouldn't be surprised.

Otherwise, we're coming off a monster, 5-1 weekend. We could have, in fact, been 6-0 if not for a phantom holding call in the Bears-Packers game that nullified a late special teams touchdown by Chicago that would have given us a cover. Still, we'll take that kind of weekend everytime.

Super Play of the Day

Utah plays their inagural Pac-12 home game today, when the University of Washington comes calling. Ordinarily, Utah is tough to beat at home, going 59-17 straight up since 1998, including 6-0 when they are coming off a bye. Considering they were off last week after hammering their intra-state rival BYU, 54-10, you may think this is a great spot.

Think again.

Quarterback Jordan Wynn and the Utah offense has struggled for consistency early on. The 54-point outburst against BYU was largely a mirage, as the Cougars committed seven turnovers, many of them deep in their own end. While Washington's defense is statistically one of the worst in the nation, the offense, led by QB Keith Price, can score. Plus, UW has a number of really hot Asian cheerleaders, which is key.

This is way too many points here.

Washington +10

Other picks

Alabama -4
Colorado -3

Super Plays: 5-3 (63 percent)
Overall: 13-11 (54 percent)
