Why both rankings and those who vote in them suck

The rankings came out earlier this week. If you didn't see them, it's probably better than if you had because they're absurd and those who vote for them are incompetent and lack even a remedial level of common sense.

No. 5 Boise State, for instance, defeated No. 19 Georgia Saturday, 35-21, causing the Bulldogs to tumble entirely out of the top 25. The question we have is simple: why? If one team is ranked 19 and another five, would you not expect the higher ranked team to win the game, say, seven, eight times out of ten? How, then, is Georgia worse in the eyes of the voters if they merely lost to a team that most agreed was better than them to begin with? It makes no sense whatsoever.

To be clear, the Crew is not saying Georgia is great or even that they're one of the best 25 teams in the country, just that falling from the polls after losing to a better, much more highly ranked team is inane. It's not limited to this example, it happens all the time. And the people that have decided this is just, by the way, are a component of the determining who plays, and ultimately, wins the national title. So that's why it matters.
