The Crew hit another Super Play Sunday, cashing with the surprising Vikings, who won easily as a 5.5-point favorite against the Titans. It pushed our Super Play record to 8-4-1 for the year. Our 'other plays' remain awful, but as we've stated previously, those should be ignored. Fade those, follow the Super Plays.

Couple thoughts/stats before getting to today's Super Play of the Day...

As one of the most anonymous and trivial sources of sports handicapping information in the Northwest, if not the world, people are constantly ignoring our unsolicited opinions. We can't go two years without some novice hounding us for betting tips. And while no one has asked us for help lately, the best bit of advice we can give to those just starting out is pretty simple: Fade yourself. It's something The Crew has done for years, and besides looking cross-eyed at the betting board and selecting the first side that comes into focus, it's been our best system for producing winners.

It does require some preparation, along with a good dose of selective amnesia, but overall it's pretty simple. As soon as the lines come out on Monday morning, write down a few of your favorite bets for the upcoming weekend and then stash your list in a safe spot. On Saturday, pull out your list, bet the other side and watch the profits roll in.

The obvious problem, of course, is that if you know you're going to go the opposite route, over time your subconscious will seep in and ultimately your 'Monday list' is likely to become skewed. Like with anything else, it does take some patience and plenty of practice, but if executed properly this can be a very profitable system for you.

Good luck...

The second-guessing of Washington GM Mike Rizzo will grow exponentially after the Nationals were eliminated by the Cardinals Friday in Game 5 of the National League Divisional Series. Rizzo, of course, sat down Steven Strasburg for the year after 159 innings last month, making the star pitcher, who is coming off Tommy John surgery, unavailable for the playoffs. The decision certainly is worthy of criticism, but the Nationals held a 6-0 lead after two innings and were up 7-5 heading into the ninth. Strasburg or not, it was a colossal tank job of epic portions, and they have to be able to close that baby out...

Again, why is Desmond Howard on GameDay. For the second week in a row he has shown himself to be less knowledgeable than the guest picker. If you just started following college football within the last couple years, that used to be a good show...

In local news, a longshoremen's union plans to sue the city of Seattle to stop the construction of a downtown arena, which supporters hope will be the impetus for the return of the Sonics to town. In related news, The Playhouse has announced its intention to throw eggs at longshoremen Monday morning...

Cincinnati plays Fordham today. Embarrassing. Nice scheduling...

Parlay of the Day: $100 on Illinois, Kansas and Boston College to win outright pays $409,500. Get to a window...

Dan Wetzel, Yahoo! Sports' off-the-charts talented columnist, has stopped Wagerminds' stranglehold on The Tweet of the Week:

For the record, Wetzel barely beat out Darren Rovell, who reported Alex Karras' death a few days before it actually happened, and then took to Twitter to say basically that it didn't matter and everything was cool because 'Wesbster' was such a big part of his childhood...

Western Kentucky has covered 15 straight times, the longest such streak on record, according to David Payne Purdum. The Playhouse, of course, has been on the Hilltoppers zero times during this run. #sharp ...

Super Play of the Day

Washington +14 (Yes, we live in Seattle, but we didn't go to UW, and could care less about the Huskies. This is just way too many points considering the forecast calls for rain, not to mention Sarkisian's history of taking down USC)

other plays (ignore these)

Texas +3.5
Oregon St +6
