The Super Play proved mortal Saturday, going down in spectacular fashion in Morgantown, WV, where Kansas State, which closed as a 3-point dog, crushed West Virginia, 55-14. The Mountaineers continued to flaunt their unique style of defense, the fundamentals of which seem to be centered upon offering the opposition little to no resistance.

The 'other plays' both cashed, but even that was bitter sweet in light of last week, when we told people to start fading them. The Super Play remains a more than respectable 10-5-1 for the year.

A couple thoughts/stats before the Super Play of the Day...

What Bill Snyder, who is 125-years old, has done at Kansas St is amazing. Truly. We're only about 24 years late on this story, but having turned around a moribund program once (Over 93 years, K-State had a .370 winning percentage before he took the job in 1989), he has done it again in his second tenure with the team, erasing the memory of Mike London's forgettable three-year run in short order and elevating the Wildcats, once again, to elite status.

All of which is the stuff of miracles because he's doing it in Manhattan, KS, which is easily one of the worst places on the planet. Literally, El Paso thinks Manhattan, KS is awful. It's cliched, but his teams are physical, well coached and, perhaps most importantly, not in the habit of beating themselves -- which in this age of soft, spread-based and mostly defense-optional teams is remarkably refreshing (Hello, Texas and West Virginia)...

Speaking of soft, defense-optional teams, locally, the University of Washington should consider dropping its football program. The offense, when it's not turning the ball over at the hands of quarterback Keith Price, expends far too much energy from a scheme standpoint to pick up three and four yards at a time, while the defense is still being pushed around every bit as much as last year, when it fielded one of the worst units in team history.

This used to be a relevant, proud program. Now, it's gross. With a nine-figure stadium renovation project currently under way, Steve Sarkisian better get it turned around quick or dude will be an offensive coordinator again...

In betting W. Virginia and Texas the last two weeks, The Playhouse has failed to cover the spread in those games by a mere 82 points. #sharp...

The Ravens have won four straight, but have not covered in any of those games, a trend that cannot continue today. Baltimore is a seven-point dog in Houston...

The Square vs. Sharp report from Todd Fuhrman, former Caesar's sportsbook director: The pros are on Cleveland (+1), Washington (+6.5), St Louis (+6) and Cincinnati (+1), while the public is backing Buffalo (-3), Indy (-1), Green Bay (-6) and Pittsburgh (-1)...

Courtesy of Wagerminds.com, Aaron Rodgers is 10-5 ATS in a dome. He's 1-1 over the last two weeks, however, having tooled the Texans last Sunday on the heels of a loss in Indy two weeks ago. Green Bay plays in St Louis today...

From Covers.com, the Cowboys are 4-18-1 as a favorite since 2010. They are laying points of the road today at Carolina...

This is a pretty stunning stat via RJ Bell of pregame.com, NFC underdogs are 34-4 ATS this season. St Louis, Arizona, Carolina and Detroit are your NFC dogs this weekend...
