The Crew is on fire as of late, winning our last five plays, including another big winner Saturday with Seattle -120. King Felix wasn't his usual self, but at that price, you have to take him. Now that we have won a few plays, we once again direct you to our Wagerminds profile, where you can track our suddenly-not-so embarrassing progress.
Couple thoughts/stats/links before The Super Play of the Day
Arkansas football coach Bobby Petrino, who is married with four children, showed this week he could leave the scene of a motor vehicle accident with the same sort of class he previously left an NFL team at midseason.
Petrino drove his motorcycle into a hole Monday, leaving the 51-year old coach bloodied and bruised but otherwise ok. He told school administrators and the media that he was alone at the time of the accident, even spinning a delightful tale to reporters at a news conference Tuesday about a good samaritan who came to his aid.
"When I came out of the ditch there was a lady there that had flagged down a car and the guy that was in the passenger seat said, 'Get in, we'll just take you right to the hospital,'" he said.
But as more details began to emerge later in the week, Petrino's story -- and perhaps his marriage and career -- began to fall apart.
As it turns out, dude wasn't alone, instead riding with 25-year old Jessica Dorrell, who along with being engaged only days before was hired by the Arkansas football program to serve in what sounds like a completely made up capacity.
According to the school's website, Dorrell "assists with membership and fundraising for women's athletics and is the primary coordinator of the annual Red Tie Salute to Excellence Dinner and Auction ..."
In other words, she's the head coach's piece of ass.
The Playhouse is not a place for moralizing, so, honestly, we could care less what Petrino does in his personal life. If he wants to publicly embarrass himself and his family, that's between him and his wife. The same can be said for Ms. Dorrell and her soon-to-be ex-fiance. Similarly, if Arkansas wants to keep him on, that's fine with us, too.
But the school shouldn't delude itself. Recruiting is bloodsport in the SEC and the other schools will use this against Petrino -- even if they also happen to have someone on staff whose main job is to get nude with the head coach.
Think for a second about sending your child away to school for four years to play football. Do you want him with Bobby Petrino and all his baggage? Or do you go with either Nick Saban or Les Miles, both of whom consistently send guys to the NFL while also having the added benefit of not appearing dumb enough to drive their bike into a hole with their 25-year old girl friend on the back.
Everything else being equal, it's not a very hard decision...
