Mailbag

Berger,

Never proven in the gaming world, but if ever there were a such thing as a "trap" in the sports betting world, then tonight's Colts/Jax game is it. Who in their right mind would take the Jags and a field goal? That is why we all should do it. Vegas wants us to take the Colts with a line like that. Eighty-five percent of the action on Sportsbook.com is on the Colts. Take out a second mortgage, cash your 401k, get a title loan on the Trans Am and put it all on the Jags+3 -- then thank me tomorrow.

Christian,

Ordinarily, we would be on board with your brand of thinking, because, yes, usually when a line seems too good to be true, there is a reason. Yet, we can't recommend getting to a window tonight to lay down on the Jags. Too many unknowns concerning the Colts. How long will their starters play, if they even play at all? The organization is being coy, which is their prerogative. But that leaves us on the sidelines tonight.

Plays of the Day

Orlando is looking for revenge after a rare home loss to the Heat. It's a good spot for the Magic, according to our numbers. Magic - 4.

The University of Denver is known to have some of the biggest home-road splits, not only in college hoops but in sports. They are tremendous at home and equally atrocious on the road. Some of their lines at home, however, are getting out of control, such as tonight. Florida International + 17.5.

Record to date: 46-42-1 (52.3 percent)

Most absurd thing of the Day

PGA Tour commissioner Tim Finchem telling ESPN that his tour is bigger than one player and will have no problem surviving Tiger Woods' absence. Good one.
