Whoa, a New Year. The Playhouse couldn't be more excited that it is finally upon us, because, quite frankly, 2009 wasn't great for us. Like one of DeMore's dates, we started slow, came on strong but, in the end, fizzled out and was a complete disappointment.

Things got so bad, in fact, that for a time, we thought very seriously about resigning. Our focus upon low-stakes gambling had completely clouded our prospective, causing us to neglect our health, families and faith.

After a "spirited" handicapping session, however, it was pretty clear to us that those things didn't mean that much after all. Let the picks fly!

Super Play of the Day

Like shooting fish in a barrel: Ohio St seems constitutionally incapable of beating ranked, non-conference foes, especially ones who are creative on offense and possess tons of speed. Starting 2010 off right. Oregon -4

Other plays

W. Virginia -2.5
LSU -1

Most absurd thing of the week

Urban Meyer saying he concealed being rushed to the emergency room on Dec. 6 to protect his players and his children. Must be a burden being so modest. Did he really think the guys on his team would shut down if they found out their coach had chest pains?
