November 27, 2010

Hope everyone had a happy and safe Thanksgiving. The Crew took yesterday off, relaxed and just watched. A couple thoughts from Saturday: Cam Newton is a really nice player, but he's still a bad kid and probably should be in front of grand jury rather than getting ready to play for a national title.

The refs in the Boise game should be ashamed of themselves. Yes, the Broncos had ample opportunity to win late, when they missed two chip-shot field goals, but a phantom kick-catch interference call on Boise in third quarter totally changed the dynamics of the game. It was gross.

We decided to go with another list today, too: Top five rules changes that need to be made:

1.) Offensive pass interference is 10 yards. Defensive PI, however, is 15. Ridiculous. It should be 15 yards across the board.

1a.) Pass interference being a spot foul in the NFL is atrocious. Having a 50-yard penalty is a joke.

2.) Move the ball back to the 40 in college overtime. Now, a team can lose five yards and still be in FG range.

3.) If NFL coaches have their challenges upheld, there should not be a limit to how many they can use in a game.

4.) In college, a ball carrier should not be down until they have been contacted, like the NFL.

5.) NFL officials going over to the sideline to review plays needs to stop. Assign each crew a replay official, just like college.

SUPER PLAY OF THE DAY

California has had two draining loses in a row, coming up just short against Oregon two weeks ago and getting blasted by their across-town rival Stanford last week. We don't think they have much left in the tank when they face Washington. The 206 +7.
